Canon introduces fifth generation video visualizer; The RE-350.


LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 16, 1996--The Visual Communications Systems Division of Canon U.S.A. Inc., today introduced the Video Visualizer vi·su·al·iz·er

The RE-350 is designed to offer educators, medical technologists and business people high quality video images for Distance Learning, Remote Diagnostic Imaging, and Business Videoconferencing applications.

Successor to the RE-650MKII, which was an industry standard, the RE-350 can be used in an expanded number of applications due to its enhanced feature-set. The RE-350 can view and capture 3-dimensional objects, flat art, documents, photos, slides, and X-ray. The RE-350 will output crisp, high resolution, NTSC (National TV Standards Committee) The committee that developed the television standards for the U.S, which are also used in Canada, Japan, South Korea and several Central and South American countries. Both the committee and the standard are called "NTSC. , S or RGB (Red Green Blue) The computer's native color space, which is the color system for capturing and displaying images. The RE-350 was designed from the ground up to be extremely user friendly. The object stage area has been reconfigured to permit unobstructed access for larger than normal art or X-Rays. Access is available from the front or rear of the stage area for placement or repositioning of material. In addition, the 12X power zoom lens features Canon's built-in logic circuit which permits unparalleled zoom operation without any focus adjustment. Canon's superior lens technology offers an extended range of object viewing from 12 3/4" X 9 9/16" to as small as 1 5/32" X 31/32".

With the availability of integral RS-232 control, the RE-350 lends itself to convenient integration to various room and media control systems such as those manufactured by Creston and AMX AMX American Motors Experimental

 and other companies. By utilizing the optional software developers kit the RE-350 becomes even more adaptable to a multitude of imaging and presentation applications.

Weighing 22 pounds and measuring 19 1/8"W X 20 11/16"D X 7 1/2"H the RE-350 is easily transportable and features a carry handle and vinyl dustcover. It will be available starting Sept. 15, 1996.
