Canon eschews print & launches online magazine; new show in '07.

"At a time when companies are increasingly evaluating the return on investment for advertising," Canon Communications (Los Angeles, CA) will begin the online-only publication of "Advanced Design & Manufacturing" in January 2007. It will have a controlled circulation of 200,000 purchasers, specifiers and related design and manufacturing professionals that recently either attended or registered at one of Canon's four major advanced manufacturing trade events. It will initially be published on a quarterly basis.

Canon said that "AD&M" will feature the latest innovations in advanced manufacturing and will carry highlights of the newest products and services. It will also provide direct links to categorized industry resources and suppliers, as well as commentary and editorial from major U.S. advanced design and manufacturing trade events. Canon Chairman/CEO Charles McCurdy said "this breakthrough publication delivers the most timely, relevant and actionable information to the decision-makers who need it most. Advertisers reach, and can hear right back from, those individuals most likely to buy their products and services."

Also, Canon will launch the BIOMEDevice Exposition & Executive Conference from October 3-4, 2007 in San Jose (CA). The new forum and marketplace for the medical device manufacturing industry is designed to facilitate the convergence of the medical device and biopharmaceutical industries.

Canon produces 14 other magazines for the advanced manufacturing industries, including such titles as "Plastics & Machinery," "Medical Product Manufacturing News" and "Pharmaceutical & Medical Packaging News." The company also produces over 20 other trade show and expositions for the same categories.
