Canon creates wider corporate market access for advanced color imaging.SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 7, 1997-- Newly-Designed Color Laser Copier Line Offers Greater Options For Customized Solutions And Network Configurability At Lower Cost Canon U.S.A., Inc., already the leader in the digital color copying arena, today responded to user needs with the introduction of several new, design-enhanced color laser copier/printer models with increased document handling A procedure for transporting and handling paper documents for data entry and scanning. capacity and lower list prices. The new CLC CLC - Cadillac Lasalle Club, Inc. (Columbus, OH, USA) CLC - Caillouet Land Corporation CLC - Calcutta Leather Complex CLC - Campaign Legal Center CLC - Campaign Life Coalition (Canada) CLC - Campus Laboratory Consortium (UCSD) CLC - Canada Lands Company CLC - Canadian Labour Code CLC - Canadian Labour Congress CLC - Canadian Locomotive Company Ltd. 800S, 700S and 700L can serve as stand-alone color copiers, or be custom-upgraded to handle the most complicated networking configurations. The CLC 700L provides controller-ready networking capabilities, image editing and enhanced document handling via a built-in IP-ED board and four 500 sheet paper trays at a suggested list price lower than its predecessor. In addition, all of the new color copier/printers feature a redesigned Developer Assembly for enhanced performance. "These design and configuration upgrades, when paired with across the line cost reductions for any combination of CLC series color imaging system solutions, enables Canon to offer its leadership in this technology to a far greater range of prospective users," said Robert Bryson, executive vice president and general manager of Canon's Imaging Systems Group. "In fact, we beta tested these new CLC's at end-user locations around the country, and each site showed significantly-enhanced reliability." Document Handling Features Increased Productivity At 7 copy per minute (CPM) copy speed, the new CLC copier/printers, also offer a wide range of document handling options. The CLC 700L provides an exceptional standard paper capacity of 2,050 sheets, while the CLC 800S has a full-color Auto-Duplexing See duplex printing, duplexed system and full-duplex. capability. Users can now produce two-sided copies of presentations, brochures, flyers and other color documents from either double-sided originals or two single-sided originals automatically. Both the CLC 700S and 700L offer Manual Duplexing standard. When combined with the copiers' optional Recirculating Document Feeder (RDF RDF - Resource Description Framework (W3C) RDF - Radar Direction Finder RDF - Radial Distribution Function RDF - Radio Direction Finder(ing) RDF - Rapid Deployment Force RDF - Rate Decrease Factor (ATMF) RDF - Rate Distortion Function RDF - Raw Data File RDF - Reaction Data File RDF - Reality-Distortion Field (slang; attribute shared by charismatic leaders, like Steve Jobs of Apple Computers where the term originated) RDF - Record Definition Field) and Sorter (1) A sort program. (2) A person who manually puts data into a specific sequence. (3) An early tabulating machine that sorted punch cards by directing them into separate stackers based on the content of one card column. For example, to sort a 10 digit account number, the entire set of cards had to be passed through the machine 10 times. In large companies, tens of thousands of cards were sorted every day., the Duplexing features make producing as many as 20 collated sets or group copies fast and convenient. The variety of document sizes and media types is also substantial. The user-adjustable 500 sheet front-loading paper trays -- four trays on the 700L, three trays on the CLC 800S, and two trays on the CLC 700S -- permit high capacity copying in letter, legal or 11" x 17" sizes. The 50-sheet Stack Bypass allows continuous feed copying of varying paper sizes and special materials as transparencies, letterhead and heavy stock up to 90 lb. index or 60 lb. cover (up to 163 grams weight). Transparencies can also be produced by loading them directly into the cassette and using the RDF to automatically prepare an overhead presentation. The transparency interleaving mode will also automatically insert a blank or copied backing page in between each transparency. Features for Easier Operation and Greater Creativity The copiers' advanced color features are literally at the fingertips of any user through the large touch-panel display. The copiers' optional Image Editor Applying a Filter to an Image This Photoshop screen shot shows the "lens flare" filter being applied to the image on the left. The type of camera lens, amount of brightness and position of the light can be adjusted. Fixing Underexposed Images(a) provides unlimited creative license as a user simply manipulates an images' colors and size. The Custom Color Selection Palette lets users select their own color spectrum and preview, change and choose colors accurately and easily. In addition to the increased paper handling capabilities delivered by the copiers' RDF and Sorter, other options and accessories improve the copiers' already superior functionality. The optional Film Projector and Film Scanner See slide scanner. III allow the CLC 800(b), 700S(b) and 700L to produce full-color copies, up to ledger size, from 35mm slides or film, eliminating the time and expense of working with photographic labs. The Film Scanner III, a direct-connect film scanner, enables users to make direct copies from 4" x 5", 2-1/4" and 2-1/4" chromes, and 35mm film slides at up to 3,342 dpi resolution.
