in hardware and software technology, respectively. The result is a printer which achieves a new level of performance excellence backed by two of the most recognized and trusted consumer brand names.''

At the core of the LBP-430W is Canon's laser engine technology, which is used in more than 10 million laser printers worldwide. The new printer offers four-pages-per-minute speed (for letter-sized paper) with bi-directional feedback which enhances printing speed and provides a quick return to application.

Canon and Microsoft joined forces to optimize the way the hardware and software work together. As a result, the LBP-430W operates up to five times faster than other lasers in its class, according to according to

Microsoft Software ------------------

The printer will also handle manual duplexing to print on both sides of the paper.

The merging of the two technologies also yields another benefit: reduced cost. The LBP-430W has an estimated street price of $449/a with a suggested retail price of $549. This investment is further strengthened by the printer's guaranteed compatibility with Microsoft's Windows 95 operating system and its ``plug-and-play'' standard.

``As a printer partner for Microsoft Printing System, Canon offers the hardware technology which is used in 80 percent of the world's current laser printers,'' said Dan Steele Dan Steele (born March 12, 1969) is an American bobsledder and athlete who has competed from the early 1990s to 2002. ``Canon and Microsoft offer consumers the reliability and heritage of two companies which are proven technology leaders. Together, we will improve the way the world uses its printers and its PCs.''

SOHO users will also appreciate the printing versatility offered by the LBP-430W. The printer can handle up to 100 pages of letter- or legal-size paper in a built-in sheet feeder A mechanical device that feeds stacks of cut forms (letterheads, legal paper, etc.) into a printer.  and can also print on card stock, transparency film and envelopes. The Microsoft software offers 22 built-in True Type fonts to give users additional design options.

The leading-edge technology of the LBP-430W is complemented by Canon's standard compact design that can be easily integrated into any office environment, especially where space is an issue. The printer is approximately 14.5 inches wide by 14.1 inches deep and 6.1 inches high, and weighs 15.4 pounds (without the toner cartridge).

The LBP-430W has the best warranty of any laser in its class with an unprecedented three-year limited parts and labor guarantee and CCSI's InstantExchange limited two-year warranty program that includes cost-free, 24-hour replacement service.
