Canon U.S.A., a subsidiary of Canon Inc. (NYSE: CAJ), and Electronics For Imaging (NASDAQ: EFII), today announced the release of the new ColorPASS-Z6000 and ColorPASS-Z7000, the latest print controller options for Canon's new CLC 4000 40 page-per-minute (ppm) and CLC 5100 51 ppm color printing systems*. These powerful new Fiery servers deliver maximum productivity and efficiency to print for pay, corporate reprographic and high-volume printing environments.

Attendees can view the new ColorPASS-Z7000 in Canon Booth #3451 and EFI Booth #5030 at Graph Expo 2003 taking place at the McCormick Place Convention Center in Chicago, IL, September 29 - October 1.

Incorporating the most up-to-date Fiery S300 and S500 server technology, these feature-packed ColorPASS servers deliver the latest version of EFI's Bertl award- winning Fiery System software. Key features include: Command WorkStation(TM) to efficiently manage and manipulate jobs, ColorWise(R) for flexible controls to achieve the highest quality color output, and Fiery Scan for feature-rich scans that can be FTP'd, faxed, stored on a local hard drive or emailed anywhere.

The ColorPASS-Z6000 and ColorPASS-Z7000 color servers deliver industry-leading, flexible, variable data printing capabilities. EFI's solutions include a comprehensive array of VDP languages such as Fiery FreeForm(TM), PPML, and a host of proprietary languages. In addition, EFI offers a powerful suite of tools to maximize throughput and streamline color VDP production.

Optional features for these powerful ColorPASS servers include EFI's standard DocBuilder imposition tool, enabling operators to edit and assemble entire documents before RIPping the files and EFI's Graphics Arts Package, designed to address the specific requirements of graphic arts professionals.

The new ColorPASS models expand Canon's offerings for graphic arts professionals in environments such as pre-press and commercial printing where the new CLC 4000 and CLC 5100 can be used for short runs and on-demand production printing.

Both models will be available during the fourth quarter of 2003 through authorized Canon U.S.A. dealers and subsidiaries. Pricing will be based on model and options selected.

Driven by an Intel Pentium 4 / 2.4 GHZ processor, the ColorPASS-Z7000 features a 120 GB hard drive and a standard Doc Builder Pro 2.0. The ColorPASS-Z6000 comes equipped with a 4 / 2.0 GHZ Pentium processor and a 60 GB hard drive. Both models offer 512 MB of memory, a DVD ROM and dual Ethernet ports, consisting of a 10/100 Base-T and 1GB Ethernet port.
