Canon U.S.A. Renews Its Commitment to LensCrafters Foundation's Give the Gift of Sight Program.

$100,000 Donation Supports Traveling Vision Screening Program

Canon U.S.A., Inc., the company whose imaging systems give people Know How, today announced the donation of $100,000 to LensCrafters Foundation's Give the Gift of Sight program, which provides free optical services worldwide to people who could not otherwise afford them. Canon and LensCrafters officials made today's announcement on Family Day at the Canon Greater Hartford Greater Hartford is a region located in the state of Connecticut, centered around the state's capital of Hartford.

Hartford's role as a focal point for the American insurance industry is known nationally. The vibrant music and arts scene defines the region's culture.
 Open, which is being held through July 2nd at the Tournament Players Club Tournament Players Club (TPC) is a chain of American public and private golf clubs operated by the PGA Tour. Most of the courses either are or had been hosts for PGA Tour events, and even those that have never hosted an event on the main tour have frequently hosted events on the  at River Highlands.

With the $100,000 donation announced today, Canon U.S.A. renews its sponsorship of the two Vision Vans known as "Seemore and "Iris." Speaking in front of "Iris," Keith Paglen, manager of Cause Marketing and Philanthropy for Canon U.S.A. said, "We are proud to continue our support of LensCrafters' Gift of Sight by sponsoring both Vision Vans for a second year. We've chosen to align ourselves with the vans to ensure that children, who represent the next generation, have the eye care they need to learn and to grow."

Canon U.S.A. is one of the largest corporate supporters of Give the Gift of Sight, which provides recycled glasses in developing countries and new glasses in North America North America, third largest continent (1990 est. pop. 365,000,000), c.9,400,000 sq mi (24,346,000 sq km), the northern of the two continents of the Western Hemisphere. . Over the past five years, Canon has donated more than $225,000 cash and $132,000 worth of optical equipment to the Gift of Sight program. Since its inception, Give the Gift of Sight has helped more than one million needy people. Its goal is to help two million people by 2003.

Canon U.S.A. employees also have collected used glasses for Gift of Sight's international missions in developing countries. To mark the Vision Van's visit to the Canon Greater Hartford Open, people who bring used eyeglasses eyeglasses or spectacles, instrument or device for aiding and correcting defective sight. Eyeglasses usually consist of a pair of lenses mounted in a frame to hold them in position before the eyes.  today to donate to Gift of Sight will receive free admission to the tournament.

Tom Coleman, executive vice president of operations for LensCrafters, said, "For the second straight year, Canon U.S.A. has made the single largest annual gift to LensCrafters Foundation. We're delighted that Canon has continued its generous support so that together we can provide thousands of children with clear vision - the most basic prerequisite for success."
