New Enhancements to imageRUNNER, CLC, LASER CLASS Models Will Ensure

Greater Access For Customers With Disabilities;

Canon's Actions Comply With Section 508 Regulation

Canon U.S.A., Inc., a subsidiary of Canon Inc. (NYSE: CAJ) today announces four new enhancements to its popular imageRUNNER multifunction devices, Color Laser Copier models and LASER CLASS fax-based products that will make these devices more easily accessible to people with disabilities.

Canon has developed a Dual Control Panel kit for its CLC 1120R and CLC 1150R Color Laser Copiers, an Accessible Offset Reader kit for the Color imageRUNNER C2050 and C2058, an improved Remote User Interface for several imageRUNNER models and Braille Label kits for nearly all of its business office products. Many of these enhancements will be on display at the Canon Digital Solution Forum taking place May 21 - 23 at the Anaheim Convention Center.

Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act (29 U.S.C. 794d) requires Federal agencies to make their electronic and information technology accessible to people with disabilities, giving disabled employees and members of the public access to information that is comparable to the access available to others. The law applies to all Federal agencies when they develop, procure, maintain or use electronic and information technology. The enhancements introduced today are the first of several Canon has been evaluating for introduction. CLC Dual Control Panel Kit

The Dual Control Panel kit provides easy access to the Canon CLC 1120R or 1150R devices from a seated position. The Dual Control Panel is a flat panel, touch-screen, upright device that includes a numeric keypad with a conventional layout for familiar and easy key entry. Its unique Start and Stop key design and shape allow for quick function identification.

Color imageRUNNER C2050 and C2058 With Accessible Offset Reader Kit

This kit enables the offset reader to be physically separated from the print engine so the reader can sit next to the engine on a surface, such as a table, that is more easily accessible. The conventional layout of the numeric keypad facilitates operation and the reader features Start and Stop keys with unique designs so they can be quickly identified.

imageRUNNER Remote User Interface with Copying Functionality

The latest version of the Remote User Interface (RUI) not only enables the user to monitor print jobs and utilize mailbox features, but now also allows copying functionality to be originated from any user's workstation connected to a network. An ideal solution would be to designate a workstation located adjacent to the copier. Users access a web browser to control and monitor copy and print jobs, reducing the amount of direct access required to the imageRUNNER unit. The RUI, with the use of third-party assistive technology software, can provide screen reading or magnification capabilities making it easier for visually impaired individuals to see and operate the main copier features. The RUI is available on imageRUNNER 2200/2800/3300/5000/6000/7200/ 8500 and 105 models, with the exception of the imageRUNNER 5000S/5000N models. Users need to contact their authorized Canon service provider to activate the RUI.

Braille Label Kits

Braille labels will affix to the primary top control panel, offering visually impaired users improved access to copy and fax functions. Braille labels will be for all "hard" keys except the number keys because Canon currently utilizes a standard number key pad with a marker on the "5" key. One Braille label kit will be available for imageRUNNER, NP Copiers and Color Laser Copier products; separate kits will be available for Color imageRUNNER, LASER CLASS and imageCLASS machines. Canon Braille label kits will be available for the following products:

- All image RUNNER models (except imageRUNNER 110) NP Copier models 7130,7130F/
NP6230/6035/6035F, NP6545/ 6551/6560, NP6050, NP6085/ 6285/ 7850
