Canon continues to be a leading supporter of system interoperability and industry standard-compliance in ophthalmology. For example, Canon participated in the Veterans Administration's Interoperability Showcase at the American Association of Ophthalmology Annual Meeting in Chicago last October. The Showcase demonstrated how emergency medical records based on industry standards, such as the DICOM Standard, can successfully interoperate with a variety of ophthalmic modalities in Integrated Healthcare Environments. The new Eye Q Capture utility also incorporates an enhanced patient search feature by using a DICOM Modality Worklist, and allows for the transfer of images to up to three DICOM storage locations. Using Eye Q Capture software, images can be viewed in a number of ways, including arranging images in a contact strip format or as whole-screen images. The Eye Q Capture application from Canon, when used with Canon Non-Mydriatic CR-DGi Retinal Cameras, helps to quickly capture high-resolution digital images and transfer images using either visible light (XC) or ophthalmic photography (OP) DICOM image formats. "By providing doctors with products that conform to industry standards such as DICOM, Canon eye care solutions will help doctors capture and better manage a patient's retinal images," said Tsuneo Imai, director and general manager, Canon Medical Systems. "The introduction of Eye Q Capture software further demonstrates that Canon is at the forefront of digital ophthalmic imaging technology and a significant player in this marketplace." With Eye Q Capture software, doctors can set up image acquisition parameters for each eye or both eyes at the same time. For example, parameters that have been set up for a patient's right eye can be copied for the left eye with one simple click, eliminating the need to reenter re·en·ter also re-en·ter v. re·en·tered, re·en·ter·ing, re·en·ters v.tr. 1.
