See embedded system.  imaging and networking solutions, announced today the company's collaboration on the design, development and delivery of Canon's LBP-1000 1200 dpi networkable printer for corporate workgroups and small businesses. The LBP-1000 is the first product to ship with Peerless' SyntheSys(TM) controller.

The SyntheSys(TM) controller is Peerless' lowest cost but powerful controller that achieves cost reduction by utilizing Peerless' QuickPrint(R) integrated "System-on-a-Chip" QP+401. The QP+401 integrates a powerful PowerPC 401 RISC RISC
 in full Reduced Instruction Set Computing

 core processor with Peerless' QuickPrint(R) technology into a single chip. While low in cost, the system still offers the performance and full functionality with PeerlessPrint(R) and optional Adobe PostScript(R) 3(TM).

The LBP-1000 is a 10 pages per minute (ppm) monochrome printer with true 1200x1200 dots per inch (dpi) resolution for exceptional image quality. The printer comes standard with PeerlessPrint(R)6 and PeerlessPrint(R)5E, which are respectively, emulation of HP's PCL (Printer Command Language) The page description language for HP LaserJet printers. It has become a de facto standard used in many printers and typesetters. PCL Level 5, introduced with the LaserJet III in 1990, also supports Compugraphic's Intellifont scalable fonts. 5e and PCL6 languages. Adobe PostScript(R) 3(TM) is also available as an option. For connectivity, the printer includes two parallel ports for direct printing and a second port for attaching an optional USB/parallel adapter, network adapter A printed circuit board that plugs into the bus of both user machines (clients) and servers in a local area network (LAN).
