Canon Exhibits Total Ophthalmic Imaging and Workflow Management Systems at the American Academy of Ophthalmology's Annual Meeting.

CHICAGO -- Benefits and Advantages of Canon Ophthalmic Solutions in Integrated Healthcare Environments Demonstrated in Special AAO AAO American Association of Orthodontists; American Academy of Ophthalmology; American Academy of Otolaryngology; American Academy of Osteopathy.
AAO
 Interoperability Showcase

At the American Academy of Ophthalmology The American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) is a medical association of ophthalmologists–medical doctors (MDs) specializing in eye care and surgery).

The group is based in San Francisco, California.
(AAO) Annual Meeting, October 15th - 18th, Canon Medical Systems, a division of Canon U.S.A., Inc., will be demonstrating how eye doctors can leverage Canon ophthalmic solutions to better manage patient information and images, while helping to improve eye exam efficiency. Canon will showcase its technologies in its booth (#1026) and in the AAO's Integrated Healthcare Environment Eye Care Interoperability Showcase within the show's Technology Pavilion.

In the Canon booth, a Virtual Office will be set up to show - and let attendees experience - how a doctor can utilize a Canon Non-Mydriatic camera, such as the 8.2 megapixel CR-DGi Non-Mydriatic Retinal Camera, and the Eye Q Prime Imaging application to quickly capture ultra high-resolution digital retinal images that can be reviewed, analyzed, printed and digitally communicated to virtually any facility, anywhere in the world. The Virtual Office will also demonstrate the Eye Q Prime software's ability to interface with the Canon Auto-Ref Keratometer, Auto-Tonometer and the Marco Ophthalmic Inc. (Marco) Slit Lamp.

Canon will also participate in the AAO's Interoperability Showcase, located in booth #2579. The Showcase will demonstrate how an electronic medical records (EMR (ElectroMagnetic Radiation) The emanation of energy from everything in the universe. Although the EMR from electrical and electronic devices is typically measured for practical, every-day situations, every object, including humans, emanates energy. ) system based on industry standards, such as the Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) is a standard for handling, storing, printing, and transmitting information in medical imaging. It includes a file format definition and a network communications protocol.  (DICOM (medical, standard) DICOM - (From Digital Imaging and COmmunications in Medicine) A standard developed by ACR-NEMA (American College of Radiology - National Electrical Manufacturer's Association) for communications between medical imaging devices. ) standard, can successfully interoperate with a variety of ophthalmic modalities in Integrated Healthcare Environments.

In addition, Canon is a participant in the Ophthalmic Photographers' Society 36th Annual Education Program, being held in conjunction with this year's AAO meeting.

"As the need for quality eye care continues to grow, integrating total digital imaging and workflow management solutions, based on industry standards, will become even more critical for doctors as they continue to provide comprehensive, high-end care to their patients and for the successful operation of their practices," said Tsuneo Imai, director and general manager, Canon Medical Systems. "The Eye Q Prime software offered by Canon, coupled with Canon Retinal Cameras, can play a significant role in improving the efficiency of eye care exams and the management of patient data and images."
