Canon Europe Signs Resale Agreement With Leading Digital Video Software Company -- Digital Origin, Inc.


MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 10, 1999--

Canon Europa, a leader in optics and digital imaging technology, today announced a resale resale n. selling again, particularly at retail. In many states a "resale license" or "resale number" is required so that the state can monitor the collection of sales tax on retail sales.

The agreement enables Canon camcorder retailers across Europe to stock the full line of video editing software Video editing software is application software which handles the editing of video sequences on a computer. Canon will begin immediate resale of Digital Origin's line of award-winning DV products in the Scandinavian regions with additional countries to follow. Digital Origin's products include PhotoDV, MotoDV, MotoDV Studio, EditDV, RotoDV, and EditDV Unplugged. All products, except EditDV Unplugged and RotoDV, are available with an IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, New York, www.ieee.org) A membership organization that includes engineers, scientists and students in electronics and allied fields.  1394 (FireWire, i-Link) interface card and cable and as software-only versions. Canon digital camcorders easily connect to a Digital Origin IEEE 1394 interface card, which consumers install into their desktop computer and connect to their camcorder via a single IEEE 1394 DV cable. Digital Origin software permits the user to control the playback and record operation of the camcorder using only the computer's mouse. Consumers may transfer still images and video to the computer, where they can easily edit the footage with the included image acquisition application or video editing application, and even record the edited material back to a digital videocassette A removable magnetic tape module for storing video data.
