 Environmental Competition

High school students from across the U.S. and Canada will convene CONVENE, civil law. This is a technical term, signifying to bring an action.  July 18 - 24 in Springfield, Missouri Springfield is the third largest city in Missouri. On July 1, 2006, its estimated population was 150,797, of whom 150,790 lived in Greene County and 7 lived in Christian County[1]. It is the county seat of Greene County. , to participate in North America's largest high school environmental education competition. Participants will learn about environmental issues affecting natural resources as they compete for awards in the 2005 Canon Envirothon.

The 18th annual gathering of high school students interested in gaining a better understanding of conservation will be held at Southwest Missouri State University Missouri State University is a state university located in Springfield, Missouri. It is the state's second largest university in student enrollment, second only to the University of Missouri. From 1972 to 2005, Missouri State was known as Southwest Missouri State University.  in Springfield, Missouri.

Fifty-one teams, 44 from the U.S. and seven from Canada, involving more than 250 students will compete in the 2005 Canon Envirothon for a share of the US $75,000 in college scholarships and prizes.

The Canon Envirothon is the culmination of a series of competitions that began during the past school year and involved more than 500,000 teenagers throughout North America North America, third largest continent (1990 est. pop. 365,000,000), c.9,400,000 sq mi (24,346,000 sq km), the northern of the two continents of the Western Hemisphere. .
