Canoga Perkins, a leading supplier of fiber optic extension equipment and cost effective CWDM (Course WDM) An optical transmission method that is used for shorter distances than dense WDM (DWDM). Also known as "wide WDM," CWDM transmits fewer channels and uses wider spacing between the channels for distances up to 60 km. Wider spacing up to 25 nm, compared to 1.  systems, provides Inter Modem Data Link management as a standard feature on its 2361 T1 Fiber Optic Modem and 2461 E1 Fiber Optic Modem. This feature continually checks the integrity of the fiber optic communications link between the local and remote facility without impacting the user data.

The 2361 T1 Fiber Optic Modem and 2461 E1 Fiber Optic Modem can extend the distance of communications links by 100 Km. This is done in a unique, transparent manner and does not impact the user data or payload. This useful feature takes no user data space so it does not have an affect on the amount of data that can be sent. The full payload is available for the user data. If errors are detected on the fiber optic communications link, an alert is sent to the user.

A second intrusive BERT is also provided if you chose to run diagnostics in the main data stream. This is a QRSS QRSS Quasi-Random Signal Source (Telecom)
