Canoga Perkins Announces New Telephone Line and DSL Line Tester.Business Editors CHATSWORTH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 24, 2004 Canoga Perkins, a leading supplier of carrier class outside plant (OSP (Online Service Provider) See online service. OSP - Optical Signal Processor ) test equipment, announced its new telephone cable and DSL DSL in full Digital Subscriber Line Broadband digital communications connection that operates over standard copper telephone wires. It requires a DSL modem, which splits transmissions into two frequency bands: the lower frequencies for voice (ordinary line tester, the 1401e Time Domain Reflectometer (hardware, networking) Time Domain Reflectometer - (TDR) An electronic device for detecting and locating short- or open-circuits in an Ethernet cable. TDRs can also measure how the characteristic impedance of a line varies along its length. (TDR). The 1401e TDR is a rugged, accurate and easy to use test set for finding faults in telephone cable and DSL lines. It checks for shorts, crosses, opens, high resistance opens, splits, load coils, repeaters, wet splices, wet sections, bridge taps and unbalances. Additional testing includes crosstalk, multiple trace comparisons and single or dual pair testing. The 1401e was designed with OSP Technician input so it is easy to use and provides what is required in the field. Even the manual is waterproof. The 1401e command menu uses common industry nomenclature to eliminate confusion and puts commonly used tasks up first so they can be accessed quickly and easily. The keypad provides tactical feedback in the form of a beep. The 1401e has eight measuring ranges from 250 feet to 40,000 feet. Its rechargeable battery provides six to eight hours of field use and is equipped with an automatic shutdown if no activity is sensed for 10 minutes. The large backlit Supertwist An LCD technology that twists liquid molecules greater than 90 degrees in order to improve contrast and viewing angle. See LCD. LCD display is easy to read in virtually all environments. The 1401e can store traces and it can store reference and trouble pair information. The traces are also downloadable to a PC. Parallel and serial printer interfaces are supported to provide a printout of the information stored. About Canoga Perkins Canoga Perkins is an ISO (1) See ISO speed. The U.S. member body is ANSI. 9001:2000 registered leading provider of NEBS Level 3 tested and certified carrier class outside plant test equipment, optical Ethernet transport fiber optic extension equipment and cost effective CWDM (Course WDM) An optical transmission method that is used for shorter distances than dense WDM (DWDM). Also known as "wide WDM," CWDM transmits fewer channels and uses wider spacing between the channels for distances up to 60 km. Wider spacing up to 25 nm, compared to 1. and DWDM (Dense WDM) The term given to wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) when significantly more channels were being added. Since WDM is increasingly more "dense" all the time, both terms are used synonymously. See WDM. DWDM - wavelength division multiplexing transport systems. We have offices and partnerships worldwide to support our users and offer 24x7 technical phone support at no charge for the life of the equipment.
