Canoe rescue.


A LIFEBOAT crew was called into action after a canoeist got into difficulty at sea.

The alarm was raised by a fisherman after he spotted a canoe canoe (kən`), long, narrow watercraft with sharp ends originally used by most peoples.  capsizing and then sinking off Roker Beach in Sunderland.

 crew raced to the rescue, but the 17-year-old man had been dragged ashore by the group's instructor before they arrived.

The canoeist was checked over by paramedics and coastguard officers on the beach.

Anthony Jobling, of Sunderland RNLI, said "We would like to thank the fisherman for his prompt actions in dialling 999 and notifying the coastguard.
