Cannon wins contract for 2010 Olympics.


Cannon Design announces that the firm has been selected as prime consultant for the design of a new Olympic Speed Skating speed skating

Sport of racing on ice skates. The blade of the speed skate is longer and thinner than that of the hockey or figure skate. Two types of track are used in international competition.

The City of Richmond is partnering with the Vancouver Olympic Games Organizing Committee on a $155 million (Canadian) complex that includes design of a landmark multi-purpose sports, recreation and community facility on Richmond's waterfront along with the new City Centre Waterfront Park and public plaza.

The Oval, will occupy a portion of a 29-acre site intended to serve as a catalyst for transformation of the riverfront into a high density, urban neighborhood. Cannon Design will lead a team of architectural and engineering specialists in design of the 363,175 s/f Oval, slated for completion in 2007.

Johnston, Principal-in-Charge on the project, is considered an expert on Olympic Oval design and is highly regarded in the international sports arena. He has provided recommendations to all levels of government, international sport governing bodies, and cities bidding for world-class single and multi-sport Games events.
