Cannon creates a true "one-stop shop" in garment district.

When we began our recent collaboration, we were challenged with creating a new model for both a national showroom and a design production facility for HMA/Juliana Collezione. This high-end design and manufacturer of women's apparel supports a national network of personal fashion consultants. Juliana offers a complete collection of Designer Women's Sportswear to an exclusive consumer group who shop with a high level of personal attention through this network.

The outcome was to develop a Manhattan-based presence in the heart of the garment district The Garment District is a store in Cambridge, MA and is well known for its Dollar-A-Pound clothing store. The Garment District started out as an offshoot of Harbor Textiles, a textile company which produced wiping cloths for industry that began in the late 1940s.  which supports a new type of clothing showroom atmosphere: one that not only functions as a hub for recruiting and training consultants, but also allows for the interaction of design staff and consultants and ultimately recreates the intimate qualities of a consultant's own sales environment.

A scheme of buttons and zippers reflected in both wall hardware details and flooring materials subtly reinforces the clothing message, while a range of lighting solutions supports all of the kinds of activities required, says Dale Greenwald, Design Director for Cannon Design in New York City New York City: see New York, city.

"The key was not to just know our client, but our client's-client says Dale Greenwald. "That-way we could create a multi-use space that was as interesting and tailored as the clothes that Juliana makes.

We needed to create a stimulating work environment, where the design, production, consultants and administrators could team and interact."
