TBS Superstation's new original series, RIPLEY'S BELIEVE IT OR NOT!(R) gets off to a mind-bending start with eight fascinating stories from around the world, featuring everything from cannibals in India and medicinal maggots in England to a talking dog and body piercers in the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area. .

RIPLEY'S BELIEVE IT OR NOT!(R), hosted by actor Dean Cain (Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman Adventures of Superman may refer to the following works featuring Superman:

     The following are highlights from the premiere episode's
segments:

--   A tribe in India believes the path to immortality is the way of
     the flesh--human flesh.

--   Artist George Vlosich sells his masterpiece portraits selling for
     as much as $3,000. What makes Vlosich's art even more special is
     that it is all created on Etch-a-Sketch toys.

--   Dean Ortner is a scientist/spiritual leader who is able to pass
     1,000,000 volts of electricity through his body--about 997,000
     more volts than the average electric chair.

--   Rosemarie Siggins was born with a severe birth defect that left
     her without a lower torso or legs. But that did not stop her from
     giving birth to a healthy baby boy.

--   Doctors in England are taking a bite out of infection by treating
     human wounds with maggots.

--   A Texas-based group of extreme performance artists inserts
     multiple hooks into their skin, then dangle from ropes attached
     to the hooks at heights of up to 80 feet.


RIPLEY'S BELIEVE IT OR NOT!(R) is produced by Columbia TriStar Television Columbia TriStar Television, Inc. was the third name of the television studio Screen Gems, adopted with the Columbia-TriStar merger of 1991 and last used in 2002.

Columbia TriStar Television was launched in 1994 as a joint venture between Columbia Pictures Television and
 Distribution, with Erik Nelson serving as executive producer. RIPLEY'S BELIEVE IT OR NOT!(R) is being produced in association with Cain's production company, Angry Dragon Entertainment and Nelson's Termite termite or white ant, common name for a soft-bodied social insect of the order Isoptera. Termites are easily distinguished from ants by comparison of the base of the abdomen, which is broadly joined to the thorax in termites; in ants, there is  Art Productions. Also serving as producer is Cain's production partner Mike Carr.
