Candy on the crest of wave.

Byline: By Peter Hilton

Airwave looked an outstanding sprinter in the making when she put up an unforgettable performance to win the Temple Stakes The Temple Stakes is a Group 2 flat horse race in the United Kingdom for three-year-old and above thoroughbreds run over a distance of 5 furlongs and 6 yards (1,011 metres) at Sandown Park Racecourse in late May.  at Sandown Park last year but she hasn't won since and it's time Henry Candy's filly started living up to her lofty reputation.

Her fans will be deserting her in droves if she continues to swerve the winner's enclosure.

However, it's too early to desert her just yet and she looks to have a first-rate chance in the Golden Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot Royal Ascot

 tomorrow.

She was beaten only half a length by Aussie powerhouse Choisir in this race last year under similarly quick underfoot conditions and went on to run the same horse to a neck when the pair of them hunted up the brilliant Oasis Dream in the July Cup The July Cup is a Group 1 flat horse race in the United Kingdom for three-year-old and above thoroughbreds. It is run over a distance of 6 furlongs (1,207 metres) on the July Course at Newmarket Racecourse in early July. It was first run in 1876. .

That was genuine Group One form, but she was unable to frank it later in the season after several hard-luck stories brought about by her hold-up style, which invited trouble in running and got it more than once.

Candy hinted that Airwave wasn't quite as sharp as last season for her seasonal debut when she finished sixth behind Monsieur Bond at York last month, where she threatened to get in a blow from the rear at one stage before her run just fizzled out.

But that outing should have brought her on nicely and with a bit of sunshine on her back and the yard popping in a few winners again after a spell in the doldrums, tomorrow's race is set up for her to win at last.

Peter Chapple-Hyam has lost no time in making an impact since his return from Hong Kong Hong Kong (hŏng kŏng), Mandarin Xianggang, special administrative region of China, formerly a British crown colony (2005 est. pop. 6,899,000), land area 422 sq mi (1,092 sq km), adjacent to Guangdong prov. , thanks largely to the exploits of Dee Stakes winner African Dream, and he can advertise his talent further by landing the Wokingham Handicap with Coconut Penang.

The four-year-old has come in for significant support for this big betting heat, having joined the Chapple-Hyam team from West Country trainer Rod Millman's yard at the end of April.

He finished third to Deportivo in the five-furlong Balmoral Handicap at this meeting last year and has also put up several creditable performances on the Ascot six-furlong track in a career that has so far promised more than it has delivered.

Coconut Penang has slipped down the ratings to a mark of 93 from a high of 101 without doing much wrong and with two runs under his belt this season, should be ready to do himself justice for his new handler.

Doyen went into the Royal meeting with Saeed Bin Suroor's nomination as Godolphin's best chance of a winner and the shock waves will reverberate re·ver·ber·ate

The four-year-old wrapped up last season by finishing fourth to Dalakhani in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe for Andre Fabre and on his first run in the famous blue silks was unlucky to finish second in the Vodafone Coronation Cup at Epsom.

in time to snatch the runner-up spot, Warrsan had flown down the outside in top gear and was never going to be caught.

This is not nearly as strong a race.

Godolphin can initiate a double by winning the opening Chesham Stakes with Dubawi, who was the first progeny of the brilliant Dubai Millennium to see a racecourse when he won on his debut at Goodwood a fortnight ago.

There was a great deal to like about his defeat of Fox and the odds-on Qadar in what looked a hot maiden, and he is sure to have benefited from the experience after displaying obvious signs of greenness when asked to go about his business.
