Candle releases expanded version of OMEGAMON II storage monitor with unique on-line historical analysis.

OMEGAMON II for SMS provides comprehensive storage monitoring and management for all MVS-based storage resources.

New functions, such as on-line historical and trending analysis and on-line cross system reporting of shared DASD A disk subsystem accessed by two or more mainframes. A "shared disk array" is the same type of system in the non-mainframe world. Disks shared in a LAN are called "file servers" or "database servers" and are not subsystems, but complete computer systems with attached disk drives. New Features

OMEGAMON II for SMS, Version 150 includes a variety of new features for significantly improved functionality, including:

-- On-Line Historical and Trending Analysis: With this capability, users can easily compare real-time performance information with a historical view for a better understanding of potential problems. Users can also view a range of information over time for an in-depth view of trending for performance and space for areas such as SMS performance groups, DASD groups and even datasets.

Developed in close cooperation with customers, this historical and trending analysis helps customers better protect critical applications and the storage resources they depend upon.

-- On-line Cross System Reporting of Shared DASD Volumes: OMEGAMON II for SMS now identifies contention between multiple MVS (Multiple Virtual Storage) Introduced in 1974, the primary operating system used with IBM mainframes (the others are VM and DOS/VSE).
