This year's slate of candidates was selected by ACA's Nominating Committee A nominating committee is a group formed usually from inside the membership of an organization for the purpose of nominating candidates for office within the organization. It works similarly to an electoral college, the main difference being that the available candidates, either  at its meeting on Sept. Candidates for the president-elect, vice president and treasurer positions were selected along with to the Delegate Assembly, the Commission on Accreditation for Corrections and the Board of Governors Ballots will be mailed to eligible voting members prior to April 15. I began my career in corrections as an institutional counselor at the Nebraska State Penitentiary The Nebraska State Penitentiary (NSP) is a state correctional facility for the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services. Located in Lincoln, it is the oldest state correctional facility in Nebraska, opening in 1869.  warden and ultimately to director of the department in 1990. My formal education consists of undergr work in psychology and sociology. I am a member of numerous commissions, boards, task forces, profes and was recently published in The Black Student's Guide to College Success. I have presented at seve and serve on ACA's Coordinating Council for Congress Programs (1992-1994). I am an auditor for the Association and am chairing the Committee to Review Interactions Between the Association of State Co Administrators and ACA. In July 1992, I coordinated the Annual Security Issue of Corrections Today. I support are workplace diversity, quality management and staff empowerment. If elected, I will serv of ACA and corrections in general.

As a career professional with more than 20 years experience with the Ohio Department of Rehabilita have served in numerous leadership capacities, including the director of training, warden and deputy director for the past three years. Warden John Slansky has worked in Nevada corrections since 1969. He began his career as a teacher Nevada's first prison post-secondary education program. He was promoted to associate warden of the N Correctional Center in 1975 and to warden in 1979. In 1987, he was named warden of the Ely State Pri 1988 to February 1993 he was chief of the Nevada Department of Parole and Probation. He returned to Prisons in February 1993 as warden of the Lovelock Correctional Center. He was an officer in the Wes and Superintendents Association for five years and was president in 1985. I have been employed with the Lafayette Juvenile Detention Home in Louisiana for the past 17 years as secretary-treasurer of the National Juvenile Detention Association, immediate past president of t Juvenile Detention Association, and as a member of the Governor's State Advisory Group in Louisiana. of these positions for two or more terms. I received my bachelor's degree in criminal justice at the Southwestern Louisiana in December 1989. As a nationally certified school psychologist, he designed and implemented a variety of innova at New Mexico's only facility for adjudicated juvenile delinquents. Pasternack continues to consult of juvenile and adult correctional facilities throughout the United States. He is a frequent trainer and was a panelist on the National Video Conferences on Literacy co-sponsored by ACA and the Correct Education Association and broadcast by PBS throughout the United States. Since 1975, Michael O'Malley has worked in the corrections field. His first seven years were with Department of Corrections, where he started as a corrections counselor/officer at the Massachusetts Institution-Lancaster, a co-ed minimum security facility. He later worked at Park Drive, Pre-Release Acute Medical Care Correctional Unit, where he was the deputy superintendent.

In August 1982, O'Malley became superintendent at the Rutland Correctional Center of the Vermont D Corrections. In 1992, he became director of security and supervision for the department. Paul Hahn is professor of criminal justice and chairman of the Xavier University department of cri founded in 1968.
