HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 18, 2002

The planning of the Veteran's Museum in Texas, based in Houston, is rapidly gaining support. The museum will be used for educational purposes and serve as a gathering place for veterans.

The museum is a proposed 200,000 square foot building, which will include a theater, classrooms and a veteran's database. The organization hopes to raise most of the cost for the $100 million project through private donations, foundations, and state and federal funds Federal Funds

At a debate on Jan. 30, 2002, Republican candidates for the Land Commissioner of Texas pledged, if elected, to seek federal funding for the construction of the Houston area Veteran's Museum. Jerry Patterson and Kenn George both committed to seeking federal funding for a portion of the cost through the use of the Department of Transportation grant pool.
