Candice Bergen Launches New Series On Oxygen With `Candice Checks It Out' Sunday, August 18 At 9:30pm; Candice Bergen Hits the Streets For Her Second Series on Oxygen.

Award-winning actress Candice Bergen steps out of the studio and takes her witty and unique perspective to the streets when she hosts Oxygen's new series, "Candice Checks It Out," premiering Sunday, August 18, 2002 at 9:30 p.m.(a).

The series, which taps into current trends and takes Ms. Bergen into unfamiliar territory, is an evolution of her first series for Oxygen "Exhale With Candice Bergen."

"Candice Checks It Out" is a field-based, half-hour weekly series, in which each of the 12 episodes focuses on a single universal subject. In the premiere episode, "Women Who Live on the Edge," Ms. Bergen checks out women thrill-seekers including the first woman to pilot a Space Shuttle and command a Space Shuttle mission, Lt. Col. Eileen Marie Collins; champion street luger Pamela Zoolalian; and circus tiger tamer "Sara the Tiger Whisperer."

Future episodes of "Candice Checks It Out" capture Ms. Bergen visiting curious characters in their own environment, including a hip-hop deejay who demonstrates "spinning," a work-at-home phone sex operator, and a downtown design team who show off their futuristic fashions. Ms. Bergen even brings her own dogs along for a conversation with a pet psychic.

In addition to her 10 years on the critically-acclaimed CBS comedy "Murphy Brown," the versatile Ms. Bergen has been a model, a film actress, best-selling author and a journalist.

Linda Corradina serves as the executive producer for "Candice Checks It Out." At Oxygen, Ms. Corradina also serves as executive producer for the documentary series "The Life Makeover Project with Cheryl Richardson" and the adventure and journey series "FREERIDE with Greta Gaines."
