Candela and Beckman Institute agree to collaborate in developing new product.

(CLZR) announced today its intention to initiate, with the Beckman Laser Institute and Medical Clinic (BLIMC) of the University of California The University of California has a combined student body of more than 191,000 students, over 1,340,000 living alumni, and a combined systemwide and campus endowment of just over $7.3 billion (8th largest in the United States). , a joint development program on a new proprietary dynamic cooling device that will enhance the effectiveness of laser skin treatments. The device was conceived at Beckman and will be perfected and clinically tested there.

The company further stated that it has applied for Food and Drug Administration clearance of the unique device and is anticipating receiving it this summer.

The dynamic cooling device, which is exclusively licensed by Candela candela (kăndĕ`lə), in weights and measures: see candle.


A unit of measurement of the intensity of light. Part of the SI system of measurement, one candela (cd) is the monochromatic radiation of 540THz with a radiant intensity
 from the University of California, is different from other skin cooling devices in that it selectively cools the top layers of the skin during laser treatments, thereby reducing thermal injury without affecting treatment efficacy. Although the potentials of the device have yet to be fully explored, it has already been shown to significantly reduce the pain of laser skin treatments.
