The body's natural healing response initiates collagen remodeling and the deposition of new, organized collagen.

Dr. Dilip Paithankar, Senior Scientist at Candela Corporation noted: "Smoothbeam is unique in that the wavelength it offers enables one to localize lo·cal·ize

Smoothbeam features Candela's integrated Dynamic Cooling Device (DCD (Document Content Description) An XML schema language from Textuality, Microsoft and IBM that is implemented as an RDF vocabulary. It supports data typing and schema reuse and is the successor to XML-Data. See XML schema, RDF and XML. )(TM), which cools and protects the epidermis prior to, during and post laser exposure. DCD automates the delivery of cryogen to localize thermal injury to the upper dermis.

No post-treatment care means that anatomic treatments around the eyes and upper lip can be given quickly and easily with minimal downtime for patients. Weighing less than 40 pounds, Smoothbeam is a tabletop unit - simple to use and operate, easy to transport and store.

In addition to Dr. Paithankar's address on Friday evening, interested physicians and press can learn about the new Smoothbeam at Candela Booth #41 at the IMCAS exhibition hall.
