Cancer survivor in film billboard charity line-up; Cult movie image launches race cash appeal.

A WIRRAL breast cancer survivor is playing a starring role in the national launch of a Cancer Research campaign.

Jean Mudie, from Bromborough, is one of 10 "If I Can Do It . . ." ambassadors chosen from across the UK to show that women everywhere are invited to take part in the charity's 2009 Race for Life.

To launch the campaign, grandmother Mrs Mudie joined a team of celebrities to create a live billboard advert, positioned in London's Paternoster Square Paternoster Square is an urban development north of St Paul's Cathedral in the City of London. In 1942, the area, which takes its name from Paternoster Row — a street down which clergy of the medieval St Paul's would walk, chanting the Lord's Prayer ( .

Together, the women - who are cancer survivors Cancer survivors are those individuals with cancer of any type, current or past, who are still living. The National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship (NCCS) pioneered the definition of survivor as from the time of diagnosis and for the balance of life, a person diagnosed with  or have a loved one who has been touched by the disease - recreated the iconic police line-up image from the cult 1995 mystery film, The Usual Suspects.

The image underlines that the 5km event is achievable for all women, who can complete the course in their own time as a walk, jog or run.

The famous faces in the unlikely group are TV presenter Lynda Bellingham Lynda Bellingham (born May 31 1948 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada) is an English actress best known for her appearances on British television.

She was born in Montreal due to her father working for the airline BOAC, and was brought up in Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire, England
, larger-thanlife comedienne Amy Lame, Casualty actress and breast cancer patient Rebekah Gibbs Rebekah Gibbs (born 17 March 1973) is a British actress, known for playing Ambulance Technician Nina Farr in BBC One's medical drama Casualty. She left the programme in 2006.

Gibbs was born in Torquay.
, Green Goddess and breast and skin cancer survivor Diana Moran and Eastenders actress Laila Morse, who plays Mo Harris.

Mrs Mudie's story will also appear on a special section of Cancer Research UK's Race for Life website.

She said: "I hope that, by sharing my experience and enthusiasm for Race for Life, I'll motivate other women from Merseyside to enter and raise money to help beat cancer." The grandmother-of-three was diagnosed with breast cancer just weeks after registering to take part in Cancer Research UK's Race for Life last year.

She had attended a routine mammogram mammogram /mam·mo·gram/ (mam´o-gram) a radiograph of the breast.

 during which a lump was discovered on her left breast.

Surgery followed last May and Mrs Mudie completed Race for Life just three weeks later.

She then faced five weeks of radiotherapy treatment which she completed in August.

Mrs Mudie added: "I could never have dreamt when I registered to take part that I would end up being diagnosed with cancer myself.

"Even though I felt exhausted following the surgery, I was determined to complete the whole 5k course and felt inspired by the support and camaraderie of all the other women taking part.

"I'm looking forward to taking part in Race for Life once again this year and would urge every woman to sign-up for an event in their area because it is such an emotional experience and great fun at the same time."
