Canal nightmare; You Say.WE are at present moored up at Eldonian Village before travelling on to Salthouse Dock The Salthouse Dock is a dock, on the River Mersey and part of the Port of Liverpool it is situated in the southern dock system, connected to Canning Dock to the north, Wapping Dock to the south and Albert Dock to the west. and the new Liverpool Link. However, travelling to Eldonian Village was a nightmare. The canal is full of refuse and rubbish and then there were the reed beds and the water lilies that kept being drawn into our propeller. Also another boat travelling at the same time has a water cooled engine and the water intake kept being blocked by the weed. We also suffered at the hands of two yobs. My husband caught them trying to hacksaw the chain lock from around the bike on the front of our boat. I can only say that if Liverpool and British Waterways wish the Link to be a success the area had better be cleaned up quickly. .PLEASE explain spending pounds 400m and port complex in Salford not be detrimental to Liverpool the Mersey Docks. Go and take a look at Birmingham, they have made a beautiful job of their canal basin and surrounding area, it is cleaned up every day. (ECHO Financial prestidigitation pres·ti·dig·i·ta·tion n. 1.
