Hugh Haugland, 44, was the son of former CTV anchorman Bill Haugland Bill Haugland was a television news anchorman for CFCF-TV in Montreal, Quebec. A native of Montreal, Haugland studied at Ryerson University and Concordia University. He joined CFCF-TV in 1961, when that station signed on for the first time. , who retired in 2006. He and veteran pilot Roger Belanger Roger Belanger (born December 1, 1965 in St. Catharines, Ontario) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player. Playing career Roger Belanger started his junior career with the London Knights of the OHL in 1982-83, getting 31 points (17G-14A) in 68 games, however , in his 60s, had flown to Mont-Laurier, about 200 kilometers (125 miles) northwest of Montreal, to capture images of the aftermath of a tornado that destroyed some 20 homes the previous night. According to witnesses, the helicopter appeared to be having mechanical trouble before it crashed and burst into flames near Highway 117 in the Laurentian Mountains. A probe has been launched to determine the exact cause of the crash. In a statement, CTV offered condolenses to the Haughland and Belanger families and friends.
