Canadian pulp and paper shipments increase in 2002.

) Montreal, Quebec, Canada, announced that 2002 shipments for the Canadian pulp and paper industry The global pulp and paper industry is dominated by North American (United States, Canada), northern European (Finland, Sweden) and East Asian countries (such as Japan). Australasia and Latin America also have significant pulp and paper industries.  increased 2.3% over 2001 to reach 30.5 million metric tons. Although volumes increased, the financial performance of the industry weakened because of weaker pricing. Using preliminary data, the PPPC estimates that the industry earned C$ 475 million (US$ 310 million) on its pulp and paper operations excluding unusual items.
