Geography . Mike Coolen, Canadian Superior's Director of East Coast Operations, said today in Halifax, "A new well 'Marquis' L-35A commenced drilling on Wednesday, August 28, 2002 to further evaluate the Abenaki reef and porosity encountered in Canadian Superior's initial 'Marquis' L-35 well. The side-tracking procedure being utilized on Marquis L-35A is the same procedure successfully utilized on two of four successful wells drilled at Deep Panuke Deep Panuke is the name of an offshore oil and natural gas field. It is located off the coast of Nova Scotia, Canada. It is currently under development by the EnCana Corporation. to evaluate the Abenaki reef in the area". Due to the competitive nature of the prospect, Coolen indicated that further information on the project could not be released at this time. Canadian Superior's "Marquis Prospect" is located approximately 20 kilometres (12.5 miles) northwest of Sable Island and is directly on trend and analogous to the recent Deep Panuke Abenaki Reef Natural Gas Discovery, approximately 25 kilometres (15.6 miles) to the southwest where four wells have been successfully drilled with productive capacity each in excess of 50 MMCF/D MMCF/D Million Cubic Feet per Day . The Deep Panuke discovery is expected to produce up to 400 MMCF/D when it is brought on line. Canadian Superior's "Marquis" Prospect is in shallow water depths (less than 100 metres) in close proximity to newly constructed pipeline infrastructure connecting approximately 500 MMCF/D of Sable Island natural gas to vibrant New England natural gas markets. Canadian Superior is a Calgary, Alberta based oil and gas exploration and production company.
