Canadian North Inc. is an airline based in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada. It operates scheduled passenger services to major communities in the Northwest Territories and in Nunavut.
, now Northern-owned by Air NorTerra Inc., in conjunction with codeshare partner Canadian Airlines Canadian Airlines International Ltd. was, from 1987 until 2001, Canada's second largest airline after Air Canada, carrying more than 11.9 million passengers to over 160 destinations in 17 countries on five continents at its height in 1996. , today celebrated the addition of service between Ottawa and Iqaluit, the capital of Canada's newest territory, Nunavut.

The new tri-weekly service begins April 6, 1999 and will expand to six flights in the fall. The route was added to support increased demand for passenger and cargo services between Northern and Southern destinations and to assist in the development of the new Territory.

Flights operate Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays departing Iqaluit at 14:50 EST EST electroshock therapy.

Travellers can now book space on Canadian North's expanded Fall service, which will use a combination passenger and cargo aircraft A cargo aircraft is an airplane designed and used for the carriage of goods, rather than passengers. This role demands a number of features that makes a cargo aircraft instantly identifiable; a "fat" looking fuselage, a high-wing to allow the cargo area to sit near the ground, a . The high demand for cargo capacity makes the use of Combi aircraft an important addition to Northern service.

Several new fare initiatives have been introduced which were not previously available between Iqaluit and Ottawa, including a Senior's Fare, a Senior's Companion Fare and a Child's Fare. As well, Canadian North will offer a Youth Standby Fare.

"Canadian North is Northern-owned and we are actively working to meet the needs of all Northerners with the most competitive and customer-driven air services in the North. Our new Iqaluit-Ottawa service is an example of our Northern point of view on air travel," said Carmen Carmen
