.) Canadian National Railway Company Canadian National Railway Company (NYSE: CNI, TSX: CNR) is a Canadian rail transportation company that operates the Canadian National Railway. It was created in December, 1918 as a Crown corporation of the Government of Canada to nationalize several bankrupt rail systems  (CN) and PDS (1) (Processor Direct Slot) A single expansion slot on certain, early Macintosh models that was used to connect high-speed peripherals as well as additional CPUs. Providing a channel directly to the CPU, the PDS coexisted with NuBus slots on some models.  Rail Car Services Corporation announced today a lease/buy agreement for the former CN rail car facility in Port Huron, Michigan Port Huron is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2000 census, the city population was 32,338. It is the county seat of St. Clair County6. The city is adjacent to Port Huron Township, but is politically independent. . PDS will reopen this shop and employ over 100 workers.

CN shut down its Port Huron rail car operation in October 1995, but under the agreement with PDS, it will reopen January 2, 1997 to repair and clean rail cars.

In a joint statement today, senior vice-president, CN East, Keith L. Heller and PDS Rail Car Services Corp. vice-president, John D. Thomson announced the two companies had reached an agreement for PDS to take over the facility. Under the pact, PDS will expand its Calgary, Alberta based operations to Port Huron using the former CN car shop facilities for rail car repair work. There will be employment opportunities for former employees who agree to work for the new company.

"This allows everyone to win: the companies, the employees and the community," said Mr. Heller.

PDS will use the shop to fully develop its rail car and tank car cleaning operations. The plant will operate as a full-service facility, providing repair, blast, paint and cleaning services to the rail industry in the U.S.

The agreement follows talks between the two companies and the rail unions that began in June 1995, after PDS expressed interest in the Port Huron car shops.

PDS vice-president, John Thomson, said, "We're delighted to be part of the community, and we look forward to developing and expanding business in Port Huron."

CN and PDS joined with labor representatives, in thanking U.S. Representative David Bonior (D-Mt. Clemens) and state Senator Dan DeGrow (R-Port Huron) for their support in bringing this deal together.

Canadian National Railway Company is Canada's largest and North America's sixth largest railway based on 1995 revenues of $4.1 billion. It serves all Canada's major economic centres, natural resource regions, and ports. CN has strategic connections with all major U.S. railroads.
