Canadian National, Clarke Partnership to handle Newfoundland traffic.

MONTREAL--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 7, 1996--CANADIAN NATIONAL (TSE, ME: CNR.IR NYSE: CNI) CN Intermodal and Clarke have entered into a partnership in Newfoundland. Under the agreement, effective October 1, the Road Transport Division of Clarke is handling distribution on behalf of CN Intermodal in Newfoundland. In addition, Clarke will continue to service its existing customers on the island.

The partnership provides the best service to CN and Clarke customers, both existing and new. The joint operation gives shippers to and from Newfoundland access to Clarke's well-established province-wide highway service, as well as CN's transcontinental track network and connections to other major North American rail carriers.

CN Intermodal is a major transporter of intermodal containers and trailers, serving all of Canada, including the key ports of Halifax, Montreal and Vancouver, plus the U.S. Great Lakes region including, Chicago and Detroit with connections to all points in North America.
