. Following the processing of applications by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, approved records are securely transmitted to CBN. Canadian Bank Note Company, Limited provides the systems integration, prints and supplies the cards, and personalises and distributes the card, all within its high-security facility in Ottawa.

Upon its recent introduction, the new cards not only became the most secure of its type in Canada, but also amongst the most secure in the world. In addition to a full array of security features and a durable polycarbonate-based construction, the cards are personalised with a laser-engraved photo and biographical data. The cards also contain an optical memory stripe on which is stored data relevant to the holder's arrival in Canada.

Subcontracted to CBN for this program are Information Spectrum Inc. (ISI ISI International Sensitivity Index, see there ), the premiere integrator of optical memory card personalisation/encoding systems and ISI's card and OMC reader/writer supplier, LaserCard Systems Corporation (LSC), a subsidiary of Drexler Technology Corporation (Nasdaq NM:DXR), the world's leading supplier of optical memory card technology.

The Identification Systems Division of Canadian Bank Note Company, Limited is acknowledged as a market leader in the supply of sophisticated passport issuing systems, passports, travel document readers and border control solutions. With the above installation, the fifth such identification card system for CBN, the Company is rapidly becoming a leading supplier of secure identification card solutions, both domestically and abroad. Providing traditional cards and smart cards with 2D barcodes, radio frequency (RF) chips, contact integrated/circuit (I/C) chips and optical memory technologies, CBN is able to engineer solutions that address customer needs and the threats to which their institutions are exposed.

Canadian Bank Note Company, Limited supplies printed products and related issuing and control systems in four business areas; Lottery, Identification, Payment and Shareholder Services.
