Canada-Japan Literary Awards. (News from Canada Council).


The new Canada-Japan Literary Awards will provide grants of $5,000 or $10,000 to be made for literary excellence in two categories. The first category is for a book published in either French or English 1. English - (Obsolete) The source code for a program, which may be in any language, as opposed to the linkable or executable binary produced from it by a compiler. The idea behind the term is that to a real hacker, a program written in his favourite programming language is  about Japan by a Canadian Canadian (kənā`dēən), river, 906 mi (1,458 km) long, rising in NE New Mexico. and flowing E across N Texas and central Oklahoma into the Arkansas River in E Oklahoma.  author, or a translation of a Japanese Japanese (jăp'ənēz`), language of uncertain origin that is spoken by more than 125 million people, most of whom live in Japan. There are also many speakers of Japanese in the Ryukyu Islands, Korea, Taiwan, parts of the United States, and  book into French or English by a Canadian translator. The book must have been published in Canada or abroad by a professional publishing house; self-pubhshed books are not eligible.

The second category is a proposed work (either a book or a series of major magazine articles) by a Canadian author involving Japan, Japanese themes, or themes that promote mutual understanding between Japan and Canada.

A total of $20,000 will be available every two years for such awards.

The Council is grateful for the support of the Embassy of Japan in initially establishing this award and in making possible its present expanded scope.
