Canada strikes precious opal; move over Australia.COQUITLAN, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 16, 1996-- Canadian Northern Lites Inc. (OTC OTC See: Over-the-counter. OTC See over-the-counter market (OTC). :CANL) is a company duly incorporated under the laws of the state of Texas on June 9, 1995, and through its successful negotiation to acquire the property containing the ``Klinker and Ewer'' claims, better know as Okanagan Opal Inc., hereby announces its goal to conduct comprehensive exploration of the opal property, and to exhume ex·hume tr.v. ex·humed, ex·hum·ing, ex·humes 1. To remove from a grave; disinter. 2. To bring to light, especially after a period of obscurity. all known areas of precious opal, and to commence full commercial opal production and worldwide distribution. Canadian Northern Lites will maximize profits by cutting and manufacturing its opal into finished jewelry and by actively marketing the opal worldwide. The opal occurrences to date, produced samples with very bright play of color (fire) which rival any opal mined anywhere in the world today. Precious opal was discovered in vertical and horizontal seams along fracture surface in the tuff. Clear ``crystal'' precious opal was then discovered, and rather quickly thereafter, precious opal was discovered to the west of the ``Discovery Pit'' in two areas termed the ``Bluebird bluebird, common name for a North American migratory bird of the family Turdidae (thrush family). The eastern bluebird, Sialia sialis, is among the first spring arrivals in the North. It is about 7 in. (17.8 cm) long. Pit'' and the ``Caramel Pit'' and then to the east in an area appropriately termed ``Sunglass Zone'' named for the bright fire of opals found showing on the surface of this area. More astonishingly a·ston·ish tr.v. as·ton·ished, as·ton·ish·ing, as·ton·ish·es To fill with sudden wonder or amazement. See Synonyms at surprise. , all opal recovered to date has been found at depths of less than six feet. As quoted by Dr. Paul Downing, Ph.D (world expert on opals and author of several books on the subject of opals): ``The amount of opal showing in the rock in these areas is truly astonishing a·ston·ish tr.v. as·ton·ished, as·ton·ish·ing, as·ton·ish·es To fill with sudden wonder or amazement. See Synonyms at surprise. . This property has far more show of opal than the best property I have seen in Australia.'' Relative to the highly acclaimed Australian ``New Coocoran'' opal find, in which excitement ran very high and the ``rush'' was the talk of the opal industry worldwide, Canada's opal mine boasts approximately the same surface area in its ``Klinker and Ewer'' claim. The actual areas of Opal Show from this Canadian mine to date is as large as all the known opal areas in Lightning Ridge, Australia, and since Lightning Ridge has produced untold millions of dollars worth of precious opal since its discovery in the early 1900s, the opal potential at Canadian Northern Lites, Canada's Precious Opal Mine, is positively phenomenal.
