Canada Post Executes Widespread Deployment of Voxware Speech Recognition Systems.

PRINCETON, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 29, 1999--

Canada's Fifth Largest Employer Deploys Voxware Products in a Number of Facilities; Plans to Expand Deployments Based on New Applications

Voxware, Inc. (Nasdaq: VOXW) a leading developer of speech recognition-based products for industrial markets, announced today that Canada Post Canada Post Corporation (French: Société canadienne des postes) is a Canadian postal service operated as a crown corporation. The successor to the Post Office Department of the Government of Canada, Canada Post was created on October 16, 1981 by the  has turned to Voxware's products to help it sort some of the 37 million pieces of mail and packages it delivers daily. Canada Post has used Voxware products in a number of applications across the country and expects further deployments at a number of additional centers. Canada Post (www.canadapost.ca) currently maintains 22 major mail sorting plants and hundreds of sorting depots. Most plants and depots in its network may have candidate applications for the Voxware/Sure Controls systems.

"Our policy is to offer our people alternative data entry options which use Voxware speech products," said Dwayne Wandio, Canada Post's Senior Systems Analyst for Voice Applications. "A number of our employees with the option of keyboard or voice prefer using speech recognition for specific applications. With the decreased training time and improved ergonomics ergonomics, the engineering science concerned with the physical and psychological relationship between machines and the people who use them. Canada Post uses Voxware products for three primary applications. The first and most simple enables package sorters to speak postal codes This list shows an overview of postal code notation schemes for all countries that use postal/ZIP codes: Key

rather than key them as packages enter a sorting facility. The second application allows sorters to speak the city and province and Canada Post application software determines the appropriate sorting facility to which to send the package. In the most sophisticated use, mail sorters speak address information including street names and numbers and the application software tells the sorter the final delivery route, minimizing training time for new letter sorters.

The application software is written and deployed by Canada Post's internal development team with guidance and continued support from Voxware's Canadian systems integrator An individual or organization that builds systems from a variety of diverse components. Sure Control Systems developed initial application software and continues to enjoy a close relationship with Canada Post's Information Systems Team. "Canada Post has been an exceptional customer for Sure Control Systems over the past several years, and our speech recognition projects have proven to be the cornerstone of that relationship," offered Sure Controls' Director of Sales, Rob Hoene. "Canada Post has done, and continues to do, their homework on competitive products, but has chosen Voxware products in plant applications to handle the noisy, fast, continuous input environment."

Eric Nahm, Voxware's Vice President of Sales emphasized the fit for Voxware speech recognition products in the package sorting market: "The first widespread deployments of industrial speech recognition products were package sorting companies, and that market continues to be an important one for Voxware. The high noise environment, rapid data input requirement, and non-negotiable demand for ultra-high accuracy plays directly to our products' strengths, and the Canada Post experience underscores our very strong position in that market."
