Guy Saint-Pierre

Jean Pierre Sabourin, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation (CDIC), is pleased to announce the appointment of Guy Saint-Pierre as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the Corporation. Mr. Saint-Pierre brings 28 years of experience to this new position, where he will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of CDIC.

A native of Quebec City, Mr. Saint-Pierre has been with CDIC for 16 years. He was most recently the Senior Vice President of Insurance and Risk Assessment. He has dealt with a number of high profile deposit insurance issues and resolution matters. He spearheaded the development of CDIC's risk-based differential insurance premium system. Mr. Saint-Pierre has also created a world-class risk assessment function that contributes to the stability of the Canadian financial system.

Mr. Saint-Pierre holds an Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Ottawa and received his CA and CMA designations in 1977.

A federal Crown corporation, CDIC insures some S350 billion of deposits at member banks, trust companies, and loan companies. CDIC also promotes standards of sound business and financial practices for member institutions and contributes to the stability of the Canadian financial system.
