At this year's MIP-TV the Canadians will be well represented by a plethora of new programming, ranging from an innovative children's science series to high profile mini-series and telefilms.

 and Road to Avonlea, will launch By Way of the Stars, a mini series in both four and six hour versions. By Way of the Stars, budgeted at $9 million, is a period piece set in Prussia at the end of the 18th century.

The Hound of London stars Patrick McGee as Sherlock Holmes in International Tele-Film's 90-minute MOW. Also new from International Tele-Film is Charlie White's Fishing Machine. The half-hour series is hosted by Charlie White, biologist, author and fish behavior specialist, and filmed on locations throughout the world.

Stornoway Enterprises continues its tradition of social and political documentaries with Out of the Shadows, an inside look at Eduard Shevardnadze; and The Hunt for Red Mercury which explores the underworld alliance between organized crime, the KGB KGB: see secret police.

All in all, some 100 Canadian companies are expected at MIP-TV with an estimated 700 new hours of cumulative programs for the international TV market.
