Canada's kid-smacking not so bad.


In response to Derek Kaill's article, "Come to Canada, Smack a Kid!" (July/August 2004), Americans don't have to come to Canada. They have fewer restrictions than Canadians do, except Americans make a distinction between hitting by parents and hitting by teachers. Some states, but not all, ban corporal punishment corporal punishment, physical chastisement of an offender. At one extreme it includes the death penalty (see capital punishment), but the term usually refers to punishments like flogging, mutilation, and branding. Until c.  in schools but not in the home. In either case, there is no restriction against using a weapon. So the new Canadian New Canadian
