Canada: Mitel Delivers HD IPTV for Asian Hospitality Industry.

Ottawa-based Mitel Networks, and its Asia Pacific division, will provide integrated HD-IPTV and IP Telephony solutions to provide advanced in-room guest services, called RoomWise, to the hospitality industry.

HD-IPTV in-room entertainment solutions utilize carrier class IPTV designs to ensure highest reliability and robustness, the companies describe, delivering HD-quality resolution. The RoomWise system is based on open standard and seamlessly integrates with existing Property Management Systems (PMS). RoomWise uses Native Video Turnaround (NVT) technology designed to retain the maximum broadcast video quality from the original video source for both SD and HD content.

The partnership leverages technology from BNS, the Asian content solutions provider, and Mitel's expertise with state of the art hospitality technology solutions to provide hotel guests with an integrated one-touch service for both in-room entertainment and telephony that are delivered over a common IP infrastructure.

Using Mitel's 5360 IP phone's color LCD touch screen panel, hotel guests are able to navigate and select any hospitality and HD infotainment service from BNS' RoomWise in-room IPTV system, which makes viewing and ordering hotel services easy, intuitive and immediate and does away with bulky and hard to update guest service compendium.

Integrating the two services also gives a new life to Mitel's IP PBX system as it enables guests to use their remote control to activate their in-room IP phone to make a call.

By putting all major service descriptions on the HDTV, it will enhance overall hospitality experience, and encourage more consumption of hotel services as it puts hotel guests just one touch away from speaking to hotel staff about ordering or finding out more about the item that caught their eyes on the TV screen.
