Canaan Partners Names Maha Ibrahim as Principal; Former VP of E-business for Qwest to Focus on Technology Investments.

Canaan Partners, a national venture capital investment firm, today announced the appointment of Maha S. Ibrahim as principal in the firm's Menlo Park, Calif. offices. Ibrahim will assess and manage a variety of technology investments, focusing on Internet and telco services, as well as e-commerce concerns.

Ibrahim was previously in the highly visible position of vice president of e-business at Qwest Communications

Qwest Communications Corporation is a long distance subsidiary of Qwest that was, until 1995, known as Southern Pacific Telecommunications Company.
, where she architected the company's e-business strategy, led the initiative to successfully e-enable every facet of the company, and spearheaded the redesign of Qwest.com. Before that, she was vice president of business development for Qwest, where she closed numerous high-profile deals including Microsoft and Netscape. She has also held positions at Boston Consulting Group and Price Waterhouse. Ibrahim has a Ph.D. in Economics from M.I.T, an M.A. in Organizational Behavior from Stanford, and a B.A. in Economics from Stanford.
