Prime will launch October 17th and to date we have carriage commitments on Roger Cablesystems, Shaw Communications Shaw Communications Inc. (TSX: SJR.NV.B NYSE: SJR) is a Canadian telecomunications company headquartered in Calgary, Alberta.

The company was founded by J.R. Shaw in 1966 as Capital Cable Television Co Ltd..
, Moffat Communications Moffat Communications Ltd. was the company owned by the Moffat family of Winnipeg. They owned several media businesses here:

  • CKY-TV
  • 58 CKY AM radio
  • 92 CITI-FM FM radio
  • WTN (Women's Television Network)
 and Cogeco Ltd., among others. This initial reach of Prime on cable systems in Canada will represent close to 5 million homes.

An enhanced version of Global Television's First National with distinguished anchor and journalist, Peter Kent will offer a comprehensive daily national news package. Premiering on Prime will be a half-hour daily talk show - Grumps, boasting a wealth of well-informed Canadians voicing their strong opinions no matter how politically incorrect they may be.

Emmy Award-winning titles such as Hill Street Blues, St. Elsewhere, LA Law, Murder, She Wrote and Quantum Leap will headline the dramatic series' on Prime.

Celebrity Biographies, Uncut and Hollywood Biographies will provide Prime with unparalleled entertainment components. Chronicle with ever-popular Canadian radio journalist Arlene Bynon will also join the slate. After Arlene's 10 years in Toronto with the award-winning show "Chronicle" on CHFI-FM, the transition to television is a natural one.

The Sunday Big Event on Prime will feature the best of the best in mini-series airing in their entirety. Sunday's Big Event will include such titles as The Blue and the Gray, From Here to Eternity, Kane and Abel Kane and Abel may refer to
  • Kane and Abel (novel), the 1979 novel by Jeffrey Archer
  • ''Kane & Abel (miniseries), in 1985 was made into a CBS television miniseries starring Peter Strauss as Rosnovski and Sam Neill as Kane.
, Masada and A Man Called Intrepid.

Prime's winning lifestyle magazine shows -- the entrepreneurial We're in Business, the haute cuisine of Taste of Life and the jet-setting with Bon Voyage all offer engaging and insightful advice for all Prime viewers.

Prime is drawing on the resident expertise of Global Television Network's President.
