) Based on the announcement this morning by Shaw Communications Inc., Shaw now holds approximately 48 percent of the Class B Non-Voting Shares of WIC WIC - WAN Interface Card  Western International Communications Ltd., and less than 50 percent of all of the outstanding WIC Class A Voting and Class B Non-Voting Shares.

The company's head office is situated in Winnipeg, Manitoba, at the tallest building (CanWest Global Place) in the city and it is on the  Corp. announced last night that its wholly-owned subsidiary, CW Shareholdings Inc., has taken up 2,887,328 Class B Non-Voting Shares under its offer and now holds approximately 46 percent of the outstanding Class B Non-Voting Shares. "WIC is still in play," Tom Strike, a CanWest Executive Vice-President said. "The remaining publicly held Class B Shares are obviously worth more than $43.50 at this point. WIC shareholders should not tender to the Shaw offer and see how the situation unfolds. As we indicated last night, CanWest remains interested in increasing its equity position in WIC."
