Can you recommend a good stripper? DIY donny.

Byline: Donny Sheridan

Q I have two 15-panel doors in my lounge that are stained and varnished to a mahogany finish. We are redecorating and plan to paint them white. Can you recommend a company that will dip and strip the doors ready for painting?

A Contact Dip and Strip in Edinburgh on 0131 337 0555. They chemically strip old pine doors so make sure yours are not made of mahogany which could split as it is being stripped. There is also no guarantee the glass will not get broken during the process. It might be better to mask the panes off with tape and sand the doors down yourself before painting.

Q I still have a blue bath from the 80s but can't find a replacement bath panel. Do these still exist or will I have to replace the bath?

A Try FBS FBS

Q My husband used polyripple in our dining room years ago and we now want rid of it. I have tried a steamer and scorer but it won't budge.

Will I be able to plaster over what's left or is there an easy way to remove it?

A It's tough old stuff - a lot harder than Artex. I would apply a PVA PVA
