Can we bank on Nama debate?


THE war of words between the Taoiseach and Fine Gael Fine Gael (fē`nə gāl), Irish political party. Formed in 1933, it was the successor of the party founded by William Cosgrave that held power from the creation of the Irish Free State in 1922 until ousted by the republican Fianna  leader Enda Kenny over the setting up of Nama will achieve nothing.

Their "my plan is better than yours" is childish and is an insult to the people who just happen to be paying for this bad bank.

There must be something done about the current economic situation but there is no guarantee Nama is the correct solution.

Indeed, it is hard to have trust in those behind the plan when they are the very same people who are responsible for the mess.

Until there is a debate about Nama the suspicion will remain that this is just a bailout bailout

The financial rescue of a faltering business or other organization. Government guarantees for loans made to Chrysler Corporation constituted a bailout.
 for the bankers at the taxpayers' expense.
