Can anybody help find our best man? GOLDEN COUPLE'S APPEAL TO TRACK DOWN BOB.

Byline: SARA Sara or Sarah, in the Bible, wife of Abraham and mother of Isaac. With Rebekah, Rachel, and Leah, she was one of the four Hebrew matriarchs. Her name was originally Sarai [Heb.,=princess].  NICHOL

AN ELDERLY couple are searching for the final piece of the jigsaw that would make their perfect golden wedding anniversary.

Bryan and Maureen Elliott last saw Robert Harrison Robert Harrison is the name of several men, including:
  • Robert Dinsmore Harrison, U.S. Representative from Nebraska
  • Robert H. Harrison, the 18th century American jurist
  • Robert Harrison (Australian politician), a member of the Australian Labor Party
when he was best man at their wedding 50 years ago.

Having lost touch, the grandparents-of-two are now trying to locate Mr Harrison, originally from Wallsend and have enlisted the Chronicle to help.

Mr Elliott, 72, served alongside Mr Harrison in the Merchant Navy, working for the Sheaf Steam Shipping company, on Newcastle's Quayside quay·side

, but they lost contact once they were stationed on different boats soon after the wedding on October 3, 1959.

Different leave dates and a lack of a direct route of contact, combined with Mr Elliott's departure from the Merchant Navy in 1966, meant the pair have not seen or spoken to each other since the wedding.

As they approach their golden wedding anniversary next week, the couple, who are still in contact with all their bridesmaids, think the special occasion will be complete if they manage to track down Mr Harrison, known as Bob.

Mum-of-two Mrs Elliott, 71, of Elmcroft Road, Forest Hall, North Tyneside North Tyneside is a metropolitan borough of Tyne and Wear in the North East of England. Its seat is at the Town Hall, Wallsend.

Created in 1974, the borough lies within the historic county boundaries of Northumberland.
, said they had already tried the webpage "Friends Reunited Friends Reunited is a portfolio of social networking websites based upon the themes of reunion with former friends, family-history research, dating and job-hunting. " but had come to a dead end.

"My husband was in the Merchant Navy with Robert Harrison and, at the time of our wedding, they were travelling on the same ship," she said.

"It was actually my husband's second choice of best man as his best mate, also in the navy, couldn't get leave.

"Immediately after the wedding, my husband and Bob were placed on separate ships and they lost contact for a number of reasons. It's now been 50 years since we last saw or spoke to him.

"We don't even know the name of the ship Bob was placed on.

"It's ironic our wedding day was the last time we spoke to him but, with our anniversary coming up, it would be fantastic to get in touch.

"It would be really nice and I hope a Chronicle reader may be able to help.

"We weren't aware of Bob having any siblings but his family were from the High Farm area in Wallsend.

"He wasn't married at the time and we have no idea if he still lives in the area.

"We're hoping the picture of him may jog somebody's memory." Before Mr Harrison sailed with Mr Elliott, it is thought he worked as an electrician on the P&O lines. Mr and Mrs Elliott's bridesmaids, friends and family will be celebrating their anniversary with a meal at The Village Hotel, in the Cobalt Business Park Cobalt Park in North Tyneside is the UK's largest office park, with around 1.25 million sq ft of office accommodation already built or under construction. It is situated next to West Allotment, and has excellent transport links. , North Tyneside, and would ideally like to track Mr Harrison down so he could be their.
