Can America be saved? (Letters to the Editor).I was quite disappointed to read Larry Greenley's review of Pat Buchanan's latest book The Death of tire West ("Can America Be Saved," April 8th issue of THE NEW AMERICAN). While I bought the book but still haven't read it, I've read umpteen reviews by numerous critics -- both friendly and unfriendly to Buchanan. Instead of highlighting the flaws that may very well be in this book, TNA TnA Total Nonstop Action (wrestling alliance) TNA The National Archives (UK) TNA Training Needs Analysis TNA Tamil National Alliance (Sri Lanka) and all conservatives should be grateful that Pat has taken the time and effort to write this comprehensive book delineating the serious threat to America and other Western nations from excessive third-world immigration immigration, entrance of a person (an alien) into a new country for the purpose of establishing permanent residence. Motives for immigration, like those for migration generally, are often economic, although religious or political factors may be very important. and low Western birth rates. Death of the West is a best-seller and is in its fourth printing. Because of this book, the clarion call clarion call Noun strong encouragement to do something for immigration reform Immigration reform is the common term used in political discussions regarding changes to immigration policy. In a certain sense, reform can be general enough to include promoted, expanded, or open immigration, but in reality discussions of reform often deal with the aspect of is getting a forum that otherwise wouldn't have materialized. Even liberal commentators have had Pat on their programs to discuss the book and its main points and concerns. As far as Pat's pessimism goes, that, I think, is best answered by an old adage: "Better an optimist than a pessimist; better yet, a realist." And let's face it, considering all the facts, it doesn't look too good, but we shouldn't throw in the towel, either. Buchanan's The Death of the West sounds more like the death of his political career. It seems to have an underlying Nixonesque message: "You won't have Patrick J. Buchanan to kick around anymore. Most Christians that I know, currently raising families, are planning to have as many children as possible, or as many as God will bless them with. These are people (pro-life) whose ranks are expanding. Apparently, Mr. Buchanan's statistician didn't take these people into account. They are having large families, and they are home schooling home schooling, the practice of teaching children in the home as an alternative to attending public or private elementary or high school. I was very disappointed with Mr. Greenley's diatribe di·a·tribe n. A bitter, abusive denunciation. [Latin diatriba, learned discourse, from Greek diatrib against Pat Buchanan's The Death of tire West. I wondered at times if we had read the same book, or if I was reading another ADL straw-man hit piece on Buchanan. The book is largely an alarm call and co gent summary of the threats to our Christian-American civilization. Pat correctly points out that the problem we face is a cultural war. The cultural Marxist disciples of the Frankfurt School understand this and constantly take the battle to conservatives to advance their leftist left·ism also Left·ism n. 1. The ideology of the political left. 2. Belief in or support of the tenets of the political left. left agenda. We conservatives, on the other hand, are always on the defensive and therefore continually losing cultural ground. Contrary to Mr. Greenley's assertions, Buchanan clearly lays out a plan for restoring America to its constitutional foundation: "Needed for victory is not only a conservative spirit, to defend what is right about America and the West, but a counterrevolutionary coun·ter·rev·o·lu·tion n. 1. A revolution whose aim is the deposition and reversal of a political or social system set up by a previous revolution. 2. A movement to oppose revolutionary tendencies and developments. spirit to recapture lost ground. To preserve their rights, and their right to live as they wished, the Founding Fathers had to become rebels. So shall we." Sadly, this globalist conspiracy has become the culture and therefore needs to be fought in the public arena by organizing/educating patriotic citizens to be the vanguard troopers to counter this culture. Without educating the public, all the calls to abolish the UN will merely be met with a yawn. If we don't convert more average Americans to cherish and restore our Christian heritage and thereby our national sovereignty, we will indeed die as a people. I would hope that Mr. Greenley would try to build coalitions with like-minded folks rather than divide us over petty rivalry, for "every house divided against itself will not stand." (Matt. 12:25) PAUL HANNOSH Tujunga, California Larry Greenley's article "Can America Be Saved?" is outstanding, even for your excellent magazine. Mr. Greenley writes: "... the conspirators CONSPIRATORS. Persons guilty of a conspiracy. See 3 Bl. Com. 126-71 Wils. Rep. 210-11. See Conspiracy. working to surrender our sovereignty to a dictatorial UN world government need to be exposed so that American voters will insist that Congress Get US out! of the United Nations. For reasons that he alone can explain, Patrick Buchanan flinched from presenting that fact to the readers of The Death of the West." Of course, I cannot explain Mr. Buchanan's reasons. However, there is little doubt in my mind that had he mentioned the criminal conspiracy and the need to Get US out! of the UN, his book would not be on the best-seller list, and probably would never be mentioned by any of the major media. After all, how can he make a living if his book does not sell? DON ANDERSON Henderson, Nevada |
