WHAT a shambles! The national Liberal Democrats Liberal Democrats, British political party

 are slamming Liverpool''s Liberal Democrats for "making the cynical calculation" that it's cheaper to pay for compensation after people have been injured falling over faulty pavements than it is to pay to have pavements mended in the first place.

What was even more shocking is the news that Liverpool has shelled out pounds 5.5m in compensation, despite spending over pounds 100m on fixing pavements. The Lib-Dem council is failing spectacularly, and once again it is left looking completely clueless clue·less
