The Campus Orchestra and Campus Band will share a concert at 6 p.m. today in Beall Concert Hall, 961 E. 18th Ave. Admission is free.

UO SCHOOL OF MUSIC

Student chamber music

Student chamber ensembles will perform at 8 p.m. Monday in Beall Hall. Tickets are $5 ($3 for students and senior citizens) at the door. The program: Sonata for Oboe and Piano by Francis Poulenc; Trio Sonata in A Minor by Telemann for recorder, strings and harpsichord; Sonata for Violin and Piano by Tomas Svoboda; "Thursday Music" for chamber ensemble by UO graduate composer Paul Lombardi; a saxophone quartet by Ida Gotkovsky; and Sonata for Piano and Violin in G Major by Mozart. The performers are graduate and undergraduate students.

Baroque and classical

The Collegium Musicum The Collegium Musicum was one of several types of musical societies that arose in German and German-Swiss cities and towns during the Reformation and thrived into the mid-18th century.  will play baroque and classical music at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Central Lutheran Church, 1857 Potter St., Eugene. Admission is free, but donations will be accepted to help buy baroque bows and instruments for the ensemble.

The program will feature music for voices, recorder, strings, harpsichord and organ in compositions by Giacomo Carissimi, Henry Purcell, Louis Couperin, J.S. Bach, G.F. Handel, Telemann, F.J. Haydn and others.

Faculty concert: tuba

Tuba professor Michael Grose will be featured in a Faculty Artist Series recital, with several guest artists, at 8 p.m. Wednesday in Beall Hall. Tickets are $7 ($4 for students and senior citizens), at the door. The program: Fantasy in A Minor by Telemann, Sonata for Tuba and Piano by Arthur Frackenpohl, Concerto No. 1 for Horn by Richard Strauss, "Ain't That Peculiar?" with Grose and the Woody Hite Big Band Trombone Trio and three selections by Edward Elgar: "Salut d'amour," "Chanson chanson

Faculty concert: marimba

Percussionist Sean Wagoner and members of the Oregon Marimba Quartet will give a Faculty Artist Series recital at 8 p.m. Saturday in Beall Hall. Tickets are $7 ($4 for students and senior citizens), at the door. The program: "Velocities" by Joseph Schwantner; "Tulumbaz" by John Bergamo; "Omphalo Centric Lecture" by Nigel Westlake; "Why Not?" by Michel Camillo; and "Encounters VII: Blessed are the Peacemakers" by William Kraft.

Besides Wagoner, members of the Oregon Marimba Quartet are Charles Dowd, Tracy Freeze and Brian Gardiner.

Galatea will play early baroque music at 8 p.m. Thursday in Beall Hall. Tickets are $7 ($4 for students and senior citizens) at the door.
